AFK Music
AFK is a music event held online through Zoom breakout rooms. There are 4 different rooms that are based on different music genres. These rooms were called Glitter, Digital, Pyramids and Popscene.

For this project, I was a part of a group, where we all allocated different jobs to each other. My role was to create 3D scenes that could be used for the waiting room of the event, as well as animated backgrounds that people are given to use as their background for their camera whilst they're in the event. I wanted these scenes to be clean and simplistic, adding different aspects that link to the genre of music.

I achieved all 5 of these scenes by using Blender. For the waiting room animation, I created a model of a mechanical keyboard key, as the branding of the event is 'Away From Keyboard'. I then duplicated this 3 times, positioning them alongside each other. I then added the letters AFK to each key and animated it to spin.
For the Glitter background, I created a small section, morphing the ground to look like a hilly swamp. I then added trees all around this area, using a swamp tree model. To link to the name Glitter, I added a blue light particle system to dot lights around. I finally duplicated all of these components and had the camera move through the forest.
For the Pyramids scene, I took the name very literal, adding pyramid-style mountains everywhere. similar to the Glitter scene, I added a particle system with white starlights dotted around the scene, but drastically increased the amount of them. I finally had the camera pan through like its flying through the mountains.
For Popscene, I wanted to create a version of a candyland, using pinks to link to the name of the room. I added models of candycands, lollipops and muffins, enlarging them to tower over the camera as it pans through the scene. I then used a similar particle system to the Pyramids scene, which contrasted well with the pink sky.
The last scene I created for the music event was Digital, where I wanted to create a cyberpunk-style city. I made a model of a building and then changed the size as I copied it around the scene, making some bigger and some smaller. I then added a particle system but lowered it closer to the ground. For the floor I made it water, to emphasize the lights in the reflections.
