For University, we were challenged with creating a magazine from scratch based on any topic that we wanted. I designed to base mine off technology, but looking more at the aesthetic side of things, allowing me to create a magazine that was more elegant in design rather than harsh like most tech prints.

I started with the front cover of the magazine. I used an image I found online that I felt really suited the feel of the magazine, as it had faded warm colours that looked stylish. I added the name of the brand Aesthe-Tech above the image, blending the Tech part of the title in with the image. I then added the issue number and information about what the magazine contained.
When I had a base front cover that I was happy with, I decided to try some different variations of this cover based on different topics in the tech world. Similar to the original, I chose sleek images that would fit the theme of the magazine and added the title around these.
I designed all the pages in the magazine with a set theme in mind, using the vast amount of space to my advantage. I found more images that I felt were perfect for this print and worked my text around them. Some pages, as shown below, were full page spreads, where I used a large image and expanded it across both pages. I also added pages that were fully black to contrast with the white backgrounds I used for most of the magazine.
To finish this project, I created an animation that advertised the magazine, showing off all the elements previously shown and talked about. I used Adobe After Effects to animate these elements, moving the mock-ups around to give a lively, interactive feel. I chose a very calm song for the background which again, linked well with the theme of the print.
The front covers shown below are other attempts that I started with before I decided on the one previously shown. For the left and right designs, I used a similar process of finding a sleek looking image and working my text around it. However with the middle design, I created the set using Blender, rendering the image out and adding the text later in Adobe Illustrator.
